Be careful when you follow the masses. Sometimes the “M” is silent.

ANNUAL MEETING REMINDER: January 24th 2:00PM in the RICC dining room.

We need to see your shining, smiling faces. Come on, act like you care what happens in the community. The Board of Directors won’t know what you want if you don’t tell them. The County and the Dollar General people will be there to explain the project, get input from us and field questions.  Ya gotta show up; this is a BIG deal and we’ve got to show we care. They want a priority list of our concerns. So far they have lighting, signage and hours. Anything else matter to you? Don’t sit home and complain. Do something!      And while your calendar is out, you know that thing on your fridge with the rows and columns of squares with numbers, write Pool Potluck 4PM on the square that says May 15th.

As if squirrels, deer, bears and raccoons weren’t enough, on our Phase 3 property we have dogs running crazy over there now too. Some folks think they’re domestic, others think they’re wild. At any rate, they are not supposed to be there. If you see them, please call Animal Control.

Trash Cans at the curb are causing angst. Your cans should not show up at your curb until the scheduled pick up day, which is Friday. It makes our community look “trashy” (wink, wink, get it?) If your hired help puts it out for you, please tell them not to do that on any day other than Friday morn.

Waste Water Treatment people are cautioning us once again regarding non-“flushable” items. It’s hard to figure out what people are putting down the commode and why. I don’t get why this is so hard. To further emphasize, here is a list of no-nos: mop strings, hair, feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, diapers, rags, band aids, trash of any kind. If it’s not toilet paper, don’t flush it! There is no outlet for items that are not sewage except manually extracting them. $$$$$ Tell your housekeepers too.

We must say “so long” and “thank you” to Mervin James as an active Board member. He is resigning his post (perhaps to take hula lessons with previous members). Can’t wait to see that show, talk about standing room only. Sooo… we need to elect a new Board member. If you would like to nominate yourself or anyone else who is a member in good standing (meaning their dues are paid up), an application is on the website http://riehoa.com. Click on ‘About’, the drop down menu second from the bottom says: Candidate Application for Board of Directors Election. If you can’t make that work, nominations can be made verbally from the floor during the Annual Meeting Jan 24 at 2PM. If there is some reason you can’t make it to said meeting, fill out the Proxy form that arrived in your meeting packet and mail it or give it to anyone from the Board or any other member who can submit it to the Board for you. We can’t do anything if we don’t have a quorum.
