River Island East Home Owners Association http://riehoa.com August 2018
When the power of love is stronger than the love of power, the world will know peace. (Jimi Hendrix)
Take a deep breath and try to remember why you moved in here. For perspective, drive thru the West Gate one day and look at the string of houses between our gate and the River Island clubhouse. Motor homes, fifth wheels, old trailers, and junky pick-ups abound, some parked on the lawn. One house even has a roll-off box still sitting in the driveway. I can’t imagine having to look at that ugly thing every day. It just doesn’t move!
Some yards are dirt, some have grass a foot high, some require a machete and a handheld GPS to find the front door; it’s a real mess in spots. In contrast, our neighborhood, for the most part, is neat, tidy, green and happy. This is why we moved here. Remember now? It has a calming effect for me when I leave the chaos and come in thru our gates. It pays to have Rules and Regulations and to enforce them. It keeps us all in line, makes this a nice place to live. It keeps our property values up and our neighbors happy as well.
One of the rules: don’t turn off your irrigation pops up this time of year. We owe it to our neighbors to keep the community (and that means our own yards) looking nice and they owe it to us. It was a condition of joining this neighborhood in the first place.
We introduced you to Rita Franco several months ago. She is our liaison from Epicenter Management, our association’s management company. She is your new best friend. Any concern you have about anything at all in this community or question or kudos about anything, Rita is your go-to phone call 559-793-2685. She is knowledgeable, efficient, fast and nice. Put that phone number near your telephone so it will be handy when you need it.
Some of us are still splashing in the pool Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:00, moving the old bones and muscles, getting limber and stronger while rocking out to some great music. It’s not too late to come on down. It’s fun!
River Island Country Club has asked us to remind everyone here that no private golf carts are permitted on the golf course at all at any time for any reason unless you have joined the club as an equity member. The golf course is private property and anyone who doesn’t own a piece of it by being an equity member is considered a trespasser. Just because we have access doesn’t mean we have the right. Even if it’s the middle of the night or afternoon delight. Even if your girdle’s on too tight and you have a flashlight.
Next BoD meeting Tuesday, September 11, 2018 in the same ol’ place 32462 River Island Lane, 2:00pm.
